Day 19. Amsterdam
I arrived in Hannover at a bright, shinny and horribly early 5am where I had to change trains and head on to Amsterdam. Despite settling down to sleep at about 8pm I didn't manage getting much sleep, but I managed to get a little more on the train from Hannover to Amsterdam.

Amsterdam is a very pretty place. It looks quite a bit like Copenhagen with quaint little streets and canals, but Amsterdam takes it to the next level and is really rather stunning. All the tall brick buildings with white windows and vintage fittings.
What I was perhaps more excited about was however the temperature. After the stifling heat of the last few weeks, but in particular Vienna it was utterly delightful to be cool again. I was even wearing a jumper. Amazing. It felt so good.
I found the hostel with only minor difficulty. I realised I had missed my stop on the tram, when I got out to change and head back in the other direction I was more than moderately surprised to smell cows. How far out of my way had a gone? A long way apparently.
Back on the tram and actually getting off this time, I then found the hostel easily enough. It was a pretty nice one. I was expecting something terrible given how late I booked this, While I was in Prague I had this blazing moment of clarity where I though "why the hell am I going to Luxembourg? And not to Amsterdam?" So had only booked this a little over a week ago and in peak season. But the hostel was nice. I chatted to some people in the lobby, signed up and paid for the bar crawl. After chatting to my room mate (a guy from Canada) for all of two minuets we went out for a little look around and a coffee. On the way home we got spectacularly drenched. Like dripping on the floor wherever I walked kind of drenched.
So I went up to change and lay down for a nap.
And woke up at 8am the next day. Fuck. Missed the pub crawl. :( at least I slept for the first time in a few weeks.
Day 20. Amsterdam
So I got up, spent some time making sure I had directions to my next hostel, looked at train times, checked out and dumped my luggage in a locker at the train station.
Then I headed across the road and jumped on a hop on hop off bus. I calculated I should have time to do one loop before the train I wanted left. So despite my failures last night I managed to actually see a bit of Amsterdam.
